What is bio-based?
How do you ensure sustainable plastics? Quite simply, we use sugar cane for water bottles. "Traditionally, plastics used in packaging and bottles are made from petroleum. The production of petroleum and its processing into plastic takes energy. The production of this substance generates large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) and can cause environmental pollution. All this leads to global warming (the greenhouse effect)."
From sugar cane to water bottle
"However, it can also be done in other ways. You can also produce ethylene from ethanol. This raw material comes from agricultural products such as sugar cane. If this is allowed during processing, the whole process can be more environmentally friendly. Plastics made from petroleum have exactly the same composition and quality. Sustainable and easy to recycle! And one big advantage: when using biobased plastics, significantly less CO2 is released! We process sugarcane into water bottles, for example.
